Week of Nov. 29 - Dec. 3

Thanks you so much for doing your experiments/demonstrations.  I had so much fun doing this with you.  Your knowledge was amazing and I believe you were very successful with your experiments.

Keep track of your new book.  You will keep this book until we are finished with it, which will be after the winter break.

Check out the sites from class.  They are a lot of fun to play with.

Week of Nov. 15-19

We are starting Bk K/2/1&2.  This section is on the states and changes of states of matter.  We will build another foldable, which replaces WKST and Key Terms pages.  We will have a lot of smart board activities and demonstrations. Most demonstration will take place Monday and Tuesday.

For the week of Nov. 22-23 - Some 6A Science students are presenting experiments/demonstrations in class on Monday and Tuesday.  You should have found a quick one to do on Friday in the computer lab.  These should be about elements, compounds, mixtures, solids, liquids, and gas.  A few of you are doing some on light or sound.  Even a few others are doing demonstrations on topics we have not covered, but they have  been approved.  No huge mess and it should be quick and easy.  You have to think through, explain, and be able to talk about, and answer questions to your demonstration. Put your ideas to practice. Do it at home to try it out first, if you can. Remember, they should be cheap, easy, little mess, and not dangerous.  Bring in materials Monday and be ready.  I can't wait to see and hear your demonstration.    Have fun with it!

Week of Nov. 8-12

This week we are going to be learning about changes in matter which includes section 3 of the book.  Remember that students do not have a book assigned to them during this unit, but can check one out before leaving for school.  Books should be returned the next day.

I have put a lot of grades in the grade book, so check out your grades and make sure they are OK.  It is up to you to prove me wrong when I give papers back.  Lab papers will be returned this week (the ones done on Friday, Nov. 5).  You have have the analyze and conclude complete, from the end of the lab paper.  We are doing another foldable, which replaces a worksheet or outline of the section.  These will be graded on Friday.

All make up labs should be complete by Friday.  You can come in before or after school to finish your lab.

Check out the active art from Wednesday in class.  The web code is cgp-1013. The link is at the top of the blog.

Week of Nov. 1-5

This week we are going to have fun learning about measurements through exploring mass, volume and density. We have changed books to the blue book called, "Chemical Building Blocks."  Students do not have assigned books but are able to check out a book if they need to for completing any work not finished in class.  These books need to come back the next day.

Students have been introduced to a fun site called Strange Matter Exhibit.  I have put a link on the Science Sites page from our 6A Blog Home page. Check it out!  They can crush stuff, transform stuff, and look closer into materials.  A lot of science information presented in a fun way.

At this point, there is a clicker quiz on these sections on Monday, Nov. 8. We will begin a new section on Tuesday, the 9th.
