We are beginning a new unit this week. The books will be blue and called "Chemical Building Blocks." There is a really exciting web site for this unit and you will have fun visiting it. You will need a computer with sound in order to get the full effect of the site. This will be linked on the science links page on the home page.
Monday we will be finishing up the presentation on the scientist and inventors. Each student did a great job researching the scientist with the shoulder partner. Their presentations were very well done on Thursday and I am sure Monday will be just as good. Tuesday we will start the new unit and prepare for some lab fun. I told you we switch subjects frequently.

Scientist and Inventor
Students are studying about a scientist or inventor during this unit. We have researched using books, encyclopedias, and the internet. Scoring guides were handed out on Friday, October 15. They will also need 3 pictures for this project: one should be done by hand and the other two can be printed from the computer or cut from a magazine. All 3 pictures can be done by hand if they choose. These will not be scored for artistic ability, but rather to help them present with a visual that relates to the person they studied. They are not to go and buy poster board, but some students said that they would have some from the project they are starting soon for Comm. Arts. Students are presenting with a partner, but this is an individual project. For their research, they have created a green pouch to hold their foldables that are used to plug their information into. They do not need to write a paper for this, but they are doing the research for the project. I will score the rough draft on Monday, October 18th.
